Calgary Graffiti: Part 3 - Stencil

Part 3 is going to close out the feature, but I'm always taking more pictures as I find them. From all my time in Calgary, only two stencil pieces stand out in my memory, one not being all that technically great, but I liked the subject matter anyway. It was a Tin-Tin piece that lived between the C-Train and Northland Mall on a bank of concrete. I still think he's a cool character because even though he was animated, he drank and got in fist fights and I'd never seen that sort of 'adult' portrail of a character before in my youth.

Part two of our feature brings us to pasting which I would think is the most involved. Designing things before hand, printing, cutting out and carrying it around with whatever you're going to use to stick it up with and trying not to wrinkle and tear things. Then finding a well enough trafficked spot where people will see your work and getting it up without and hassles. That's a lot of work.

Calgary Graffiti: Part 1 - Paint

While putting together this post I wanted to say that, from what I've seen, Calgary doesn't have that big or great of a graffiti scene. I walk through downtown to 17th Ave. almost on a daily basis and see a fair bit of the city by car. I come across the odd piece, but as far as I could tell, that was about the extent of it.
